Vancouver History Show-N-Tell Series Hogan’s Alley – First Black Community

History is Hot and Now!! Why not discover our city’s past relevant, engaging, empowering cultural history! Presented and curated by Abrielle Chan, G7 Student from Tecumseh Elementary who won a spot for the BC Provincial Heritage Fair as well as for the Young Citizen’s of Canada program. She will present the first Black community established in Vancouver – Hogan’s Alley. The neighbourhood consisted of successful restaurants, a church and other businesses with diverse population of families, musicians, where the likes of Jimmy Hendrix, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and many others visited. This history establishes an important part of the Black Canadian experience in British Columbia. Please join us and listen to Abrielle’s inspirational presentation!
